ruralnet|online focus group and Working 2.0

Wow you know it was a good day when it takes you a week to post anything about it. Thanks to Dave and Tracey and everyone else who has been busy here since the rest of us went AWOL. I'll do a proper post in a sec, but here is my presentation on 'Working 2.0' which basically took everyone through my day on Monday and how the use of some of these Web 2.0 tools flowed and blended through the day. My aim was to show them in context and as we had quite a few self confessed technophobes in the room I was conscious of eyes widening and a few silent 'helps' being said.

But my aim wasn't to frighten but show how the tools work, and how they help you discover things, work in lots of different places, but be in control of what is going on 'out there' if you use the internet as your desktop (without going into boring details and saying this is a wiki, this is a blog - indeed I think I got through the whole thing without saying RSS feed...) The key was to trust that the tools do work and they are not that hard to use (as Tracey has already shown but commenting on this site, starting a blog and bookmarking in del.icio.us). More soon on what we learned on the day but please forgive the poor quality of the sound - you would think that a former radio producer wouldn't have put the mic between the fan of the laptop and the fan of the projector and then have to be a bit aggressive with the noise reduction...I hope some of it comes across - in (almost) the words of the BBC iPlayer "We've made the unmissable, unlistenable".
